Myofascial Release - Improve Fascial Pliability

Transform the Cycle of Pain and Dysfunction into Virtuous Circle of Sustained Wellness

Jim Busconi employs his knowledge of and training with the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach to eliminate pain and restore movement. Myofascial Release is a safe and effective full-body, hands-on technique that involves applying sustained pressure at the site of restricted (tight) connective tissue until release occurs. Pain and dysfunction are caused by tension in body structures. Applying sustained pressure softens and lengthens fascia, which then allows for the release of tension within other body structures. Myofascial Release is the only form of therapy that addresses the whole body complex. It frees body structures to discover self-corrective mechanisms and unlock natural healing.

When we experience trauma, surgery, poor posture, repetitive stress or inflammation, it creates fascial restrictions causing the fascia to shorten and lose pliability. Fascial restrictions can exert excessive pressure — with equivalent force up to 2000lbs per square inch. This phenomenon causes all kinds of symptoms, including pain, stiffness and limited mobility. A high percentage of people experiencing pain and/or limited range-of-motion likely suffer from fascial problems.

Fascia is a three-dimensional web of tissue that connects, supports and surrounds every system of the body (muscle, bone, joint, nerve, artery and spinal cord). It is not visible through standard tests, such as x-rays, CT scans, and MRIs. And yet, fascia plays a critical role in the support and function of our bodies. It is responsible for maintaining structural integrity and is the transport system for blood, oxygen, lymph, nutrients and for removal of waste and toxins from the body. Healthy fascia is long, pliable and resilient. Without healthy fascia, the body cannot heal or function optimally.
